I'm going to SE Tasmania on a working holiday in july.BRRRRRRRR!
The plan is to take my kiting gear, and some small sailboarding gear.Maybe a surfboard ?
Keen to hear anyones experience of Tasie.
Hope to have a bit of time to look around.I'll be based on Bruny Island. And will be there about 3-4 weeks.
Iv'e had plenty of experience in the cold.
I used to sailboard Lake Jindabyne in winter! All be it on large
slalom gear and with a dry suit [wich dos'nt fit anymore.BUGGER!]
Anyhow any input will be welcome. Thanks.

Hi mate It's the middle of june and i kited 3 days last week. Im half way up the east coast of Tassie it certainly isnt any colder than Melbourne! Check out the new www.kitesurftasmania.com.au.tt web site we have a Big waves, Big wind kiting weekend organised for Marrawah on the West Coast for the 1st-4th of September, if you are still about or come up the east coast for a kite while you are here you can look me up in the Bakery at Bicheno. Its pretty much only southerlies SW that are good and consistent at this time of the year but we get plenty of them.

I checked out the tassie www site. Some of those beaches look sweet for landboading or buggying. You can stay nice and dry that way..... but only if you want; the cold is no excuse.

hey presto...man bruny is the sweetest place and you definately wanna take ur surf board. world class breaks are on the menu at bruny. head south to cloudy bay and then on to lighthouse. coal point at the s end of adventure bay in a big se swell is a wicked left point break setup. there is no better location in tas for wild untamed uncrowded and super cold water surfing but you are heading there at just the right time! it WILL be on! you may get a kite in down there at a few different locations. ive not kited bruny at all but i reckon in a sw (and you'll get plenty of those that kick arse) simpson bay may be worth a look. huge shallow flat water bay. other than than that cloudy and middle bay in a se-sw would work if the swell is down. there is a lagoon nearby which you could get in any s direction but im not sure on launch/land spots. kiters are few and far between in tas especially down bruny way. send me an email if you want any more info dude. other than that, enjoy! nads
