Hey
Myself and my Canadian girlfriend are heading to WA after NY to set up somewhere for 3/4 months. We been living on the east coast for the past 6 months but got fed up of unrelaible weather!

Does Gerladton offer flat water areas and good learning spots - as my lady is only on lesson number 2 currently? (yes i have already looked on WAKSA, forums etc - but i always find 'the word on the street' the most accurate!

We would also be looking to get some work and a place to stay - semi long term(3/4 months) is there much work/accom available?..we both have working visa's

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer me - i'm driving myself insane going round in circles trying to choose a spot!

Thanks
Dougie

There's a few good kiting spots around Gero for both you and your girl. No flat water its all a bit choppy, but if your willing to kite in the shore break there's some flat water between swells on beaches north and south of town. Couple good outter reef breaks too.

I have heard theres some jobs going at the cray factory. There's also a few new suburbs popping up so trade work will be easy to find.

Accomodation should be right. Start off at the sunset beach van park or backpackers and look around from there.

See you when you get here. Plenty wind tourists not so many locals kiting here, I think the kids are a bit soft here...appart from sofled and groomy

Yep,
Plenty of work in every possible area you can think of. Flat water does exist, but as N8 said, there's a few compromises needed. But still very safe and unintimidating for a learner.

(sigh) looks like more BBQ's with kiters at your place N8..when will the fun ever end?.

I will be in Gero on the 12th Darkside. Might buy you a beer if you let me drop in on a few waves! How will i recognise you and your east-coast posse? weather-beaten faces? caloused hands? (from all that hard core winter kiting). What do people drink in Gero anyway? Pornstar could be our mascot and official guide i think. Best we get him on the piss and learn all the secret spots

Lego man needs no meat to live, only chilli sausages and other cheap minced stuff from the butcher.

Brewing today. Im thinking about beer and next year, Im a real forward thinker.
Suppose I have already broken my no drinking new years resolution.

Looks like Christmas/New years will be a loud occasion. Chiara has a bunch of Italian kiting mates turing up soon too. Peg up the fairy lights, Stir up the dust and smoke out the neighbours hey boys!
