Well not yet, but it may happen soon!
-11th November 2006. WAKSA put up 2x No KITING SIGNS at the old phone box site 7 days ago after continious complaints to the Council about kiting at this site by the public. Makes my head hurt. The Head Ranger was getting sick of this situation and had started the process of politicking to get us banned at this site about 5 months ago. I was told this by Graham from the WAKSA commitee about 3 weeks ago, so I approached the council to see if the rumors were true and they are, the Ranger wants us banned AGAIN. ****. I quickly aranged with the council to put up 2x NO KITING SIGNS at this site. The council agreed to put up or WAKSA signs to limit our access at the old phone box site. Both WAKSA and the Council did not want to put up these signs. But were forced to by kioirs constantly pissing off the public at this site.
16th November 2006- I was rung by the Cottesloe Ranger this afternoon 16th Nov 2006 with his complaint about 3 kiters at Dean Street Cottesloe(the old phonebox site) he recieved a complaint by public about kites and lines on beach. He watched the kiters at the phone box and they went out to sea when he arrived. AMAZINGLY...The same Ranger about 3-5 days ago was told to "**** OFF,by at kiter at this site. This was after the NO KITING SIGNS were put up.
Please can all the WAKSA kiters / locals at Cottesloe and any other kiters who kite at Cottesloe aviod the Old phone box site. If you see kiters on the beach their please ask them nicely to move 100m call me on 0401 60 3838 so I can personally meet you and pour 2 litres of petrol on your kite and burn it. What an idiot. FDinally all I can say is if we get banned, we can only blame the kiters. Johnno Keys

What I ment to say was...... If you see kiters on the beach at the old phone box, ask them nicely to move 100m South. To the Kiter who abused the Ranger can you call me me on 0401 60 3838 so I can meet you at the beach to pump up your kite, so I can pour petrol on it, and burn it....What an idiot. Finally all I can say is if we get banned, we can only blame the kiters. Johnno Keys

why did the ranger not confiscate equipment? i refuse to believe that a WAKSA member would have told him to **** off.

Its a bit off telling the ranger to **** off.
Again not behaviour you'd anticipate from a WAKSA member telling the Ranger to **** off.
In fact WAKSA members would have been obeying the rules one would think.
Poor show whoever you are.
May you be set adrift in shark infested waters near Rottnest. yeah **** off ****er

The Ranger has told me today they are going to start videoing and taking photos of kiters in that area. 2 years ago they started videoing the kiters at the Phone box, to use in Council as evidence to get us banned. It was pretty funny on the first day they videoed at Cottesloe they got video of a kiter being dragged up the beach, a family on the beach having to duck their heads as a kite flew over the beach,an old lady on the path above the beach having to bend down to avoid a kite that was being taken to the beach. Mind you 20-25 kiters a day were using the site, it was a frenzy in a 20-25knot sea breeze.

can we get a copy of the video? could be amusing.
Just joking, smarten up people - no use in getting banned from the beaches we love to kite at.

Can't WAKSA donate a digital camera to the poor Council(not) and give it to the ranger so that photos can be taken of bad mannered people.
At least the Council would have some real evidence rather than just hear say. Enforcement of a local rule, like an equipment confiscation would be nice. Make one good example ..........word would get out quick among the "visiting people" that there are in fact rules and they will be enforced.
Today's modern ranger should have a digital camera on them at all times I would think, part of the kit...expecially in tourist season.
I firmly believe that WAKSA memebers know the rules here...it is an awefully small town.

Hey Gruezi,
Cottesloe rangers already carry a dig camera, maybe the ranger could have used it, although it wouldn't have shown anything illegal very clearly.

Hey Brooksy, you are prob. right about them being witness to "illegal" activity, but think of the SHAME!
But then again some are shameless and call their behaviour blameless.
