I'm heading to broome on june 1st for a week. Have seen people kiting on cable beach before and was wondering whether the conditions in june would be good. Have done an IKO course but not kited since and would like a lesson. Does anyone know a good instructor up there.
Thanks

I hate to tell you that there is a good chance that Shayne has left Broome by now.
If he has, dont fret there are still a number of keen kiters up there.
June is good up there, but not Cable Beach. The place to go is Town Beach, its good on the morning easterlies which is what you will be getting.
Just keep in mind to watch the tides. On a full tide the launch is a bit dodgy, there is a light pole that can attack and plenty of trees. Im sure if its good there will people there to help out though. The other problem is the mangroves at the other end.
If the tide is going low, there a couple of rocks in the middle of the bay that can pop out. You dont want to hit them cause they are sharp.
Incoming tide is the best. If you lose your board it wont get stolen by the tide. Plus it gets a glassy section in near the point.
If your not experienced you can go on the other side of the mangroves, past the caravan park and there is a long beach with not much to get caught up in. You can drive there but its a little bit of a maze.
Have a good time. Broome is cool and the local kiters are all super friendly.
