For those of you who kite at Manly, please try and use some self regulation.
(in case you havent heard - Kiting has been banned at Bondi). All its going to take to happen in Manly is one incident or one complaint.
Yesterday a bunch of Euros turned up at the beach - and one of them was trying to learn with a blue 9m fuel.... friggin nuts. He clearly had very poor control of the kite - and I could see a bunch of bystanders watching to see what was going to happen - cause it looked like an accident was about to happen.
I went to speak to the guys - and luckily they listened to me and landed the kite.
But As I say - we need to set the example .....
Jumping on the beach is just stupid. Why do it? If you are not a kiter - then it can be scary having someone flyup in the air and a kite swoosh up above you. Scarying people on the beach - which you probably dont realise you are doing, its going to earn you some complaints - and then a ban.
Launch your kite - and get out on to the ocean. Its because we do this that we can still kite in Manly. We need to set the example.
Personally I dont see why do guys kite along the walk from Manly beach to Shelly beach..... is it because you can get close to the audience?
One screw up here - and your kite lands on the walkway - will mean complaints and kiting banned.
Please guys - I'm not having a go at anyone personally - but our days at Manly are numbered - and surely you dont want to be the reason for a BAN.
