Hi guys Im fairly new to kiting and the forums but loving every minute of it so far. Heading up to Ocean Grove this weekend to stay with the folks who have just moved there. Anyways was planning to take the gear up and hit the water (winds permitting). Anyone kite there and know where to kite what winds are suitable etc?? Im a beginner however can get up and going no probs and am not a total spud anymore. Any advice would be appreciated. I have generally been kiting at Altona since I started.

Plenty of places to kite around there......... I have had some good sessions out from Bawon Heads ( carpark on left before you cross the bridge into bawon from coming from Ocean Grove ) works in a SSW, S and SE. There is also some flat water here but depending on wind direction the flat water section can be too far into the wind shadow of the headland,

If there is a decent swell there is also a large bombora about 1km offshore...... but if you are fairly new to kiting perhaps stay closer to shore.

i kited at OG
be aware the wind can be slightly offshore - and if you are not super experienced can be tricky
just check the direction and make sure its not blowing offshore

As long as you are clear of the flagged areas then it is OK. Hopefully I see you this weekend
