Plenty of good spots in Brisbane, have a look at the Seqka site.
You will have trouble finding a board to rent though...

Welcome to Brissy Brendan! We have the latest range of gear for rent at Sandgate (northside of Brisbane), right on the beach. Sandgate is accessible by public transport (direct train ride from Brisbane City).
Wind was fantastic today, hope you got out. Tomorrow's forecast is not too bad either:
Sunday: Wind: S/SE 15/20 knots, reaching 20/25 knots at times over northern bay. Lighter winds over western bay early morning. Sea: 0.7 to 1 metre. Scattered showers.
