Given i'm not a local i'm sure there's heaps more beaches up there, but the one that stood out to me last i was up there was Yorkies Knob. It's just north of Cairns and i'll definitely be checking it out next time i'm up there with my kites.

Triton,
Might be worth checking out an earlier post...

BTW, the TKA site is no longer online.

You should find the local crew at Pallaranda friendly, just remember to give the powerlines the respect they deserve. There has been a few kites hit the lines and cause blackouts. When this happens, some people start to use the B word

Make sure you stop by Alva just outside of Ayr (100km south of townsville) it is an awesome spot with flat water lagoons and waves out the back. Cungulla (about 40mins south of townsville) is a flatwater spot. Pallarenda in townsville is our local spot and is choppy in good wind. If you get the tide right, Pallarenda has shallow flat water.

I'll be there tomorrow and Thursday. Given the tides and forecast, should I be driving to Alva, or just head to Pal? I have good light wind gear so if there's enough for the kite to fly properly I'll be hitting the water one way or another. Chrs, Warren

Thanks for the tips. ill be coming through around 12/11, just found out my riding buddy can't come, would any locals be willing to show me around a bit or does any body know of any shops or instructors who run tours or trips? Good Winds to everyone.
