Does anybody do this? I imagine that if the kite got very wet it would start to behave erratically especially if it's pelting down.
Anyone know or tried it.

in wa winter
rain = squall
kite between, get out of danger when rain comes, out to sea or land the kite prior
whether the kite is wet or not dont matter if wind strength doubles

LOL it feels like rocks hitting ya face espeacially when that squall gets up.

My suggestion land that kite and get out of the water before the **** kicks in. The wind could get really cranking and you will be caught out and overpowered!!! If this doesn't happen you might end up stuck in the rain floating out in the bay with abosultely no wind to even launch the kite. Dont be fooled by the gusty strong wind before this happens...it never lasts.

it doesnt really do anything to your kite unless the wind is real light or if you have an arc kite. the only thing that suks is that the rain ****n hurts. it ****n stings. ithought it was bad when u r surfing but kiting hurts way more

yeah biggest hassle is the variability of the wind strength.

Oh yeah and rain @ 30 knots hurts...

HA, me, Likuid and a couple other kiters went out JUST after cyclone larry crossed, it was crankin, and thered be wind gusting to the point where you couldnt hold your kite, and the rain would be so hard you couldnt see 10m around you, getting dragged down the beach with that **** is scary. Kiting in liht rain is fun, but when its bucketing down its ferked. And yeh, it will be hammering you, then suddenly stop, and you kite will fall out of the sky. Cyclones are strange things.
