Much as WA is probably the best place to learn/improve kiting over Christmas/New Year, I'm keen to take my girlfriend somewhere 'ideal' to learn ie. a summer equivalent of the Cocos Islands. Having just read some average-bad reports on New Caledonia, I figured I'd see if anyone else has some suggestions?!

We have 10-14 days with the focus on learning (she is just starting to get up on the board), but if there's some waves in the background, I wouldn't be unhappy!

Any pointers appreciated.

Have heard only good things about the Cocos -- not sure about what the season is there but contact Jen at Zephyr and have a chat with her -- she does a lot of these sorts of excursions and the feedback from people I've spoken with about them has been universally positive (NOT a paid plug---no association with them, no conflicts of interest, lalalala..!) :-) Otherwise there's Australian Kite Surfari in QLD who also get great reviews.

Probably too windy up this way for learning that time of year!

Good man Cauncy I might take you up on that offer but I prefer waves. I've been wanting to check out sandy point for a while as a camping spot whad'ya reckon??

Plenty of good wave and swell driven spots aswell, personally sandy bay doesn't do it for me but its a pristine spot, exmouth is a wicked playground go and explore

Cauncy my bad I meant sandy cape wondered if you'd kited/camped there? and if so what's it like???
