Hi,

Making the venture north for a weekend 13/14/15 (from cold Victoria).

Couple of questions.

What is the wind like?

What are the best spots to kite around the area?

Thanks.

aye matt winds on and off atm but typically were getting gusty southeasters, depending on what you want flat water or surf??? i would suggest shearwater at runaway bay for flatwater and narrowneck for surf but hit up www.seqka.com and ask the guys on their for more details

Thank you for the replies and the link to SEQKA site.

Have been checking out the wind stats etc. What direction is good up your way? And how many days has it been kiteable over the past couple of weeks (we have had about two down here).

Not sure of the exact suburb - but I think it around coolangatta.

So couple more questions. I am up Gold Coast way this weekend.

1/ where is the best place to find the forecast (ie. is the below correct from BOM)?

2/ what wind direction am I looking for?

3/ The forecast for collangatta seems to be good but the wind speed recorded on sea breeze doesnt match forecasts - why not?

Thanks.

the wind meter for the spit measures what directly comes off the ocean being that it is half way out along the spit. take a bit off that to gauge what gets into the flattie goodness of shearwater and lodders creek kitespots of the boradwater.

Hi Terrah,

Thank you for your response.

Is the wind meter for "the spit" the same as the Gold Coast Seaway windmeter. Otherwise how do I find the right wind meter?

Cheers
