Hey man,

Try Main Beach up around the Spit and as far down as Surfers, I've seen Kiters out around here but I've only just moved into the area so I havn't been out, that and I'm only a newbie so I like to avoid getting in other kiters way. (Havn't had much chance to get out since I started, spent the last 12months travelling for work.) Up at Runaway Bay is another spot but its only a small area to launch though and it tends to be packed. The other place is down at Tugun around Kirra, huge beach, small surf.

Hope that helps.

Look for kites when there is wind and ride with some locals.

Gold Coast popular kite spots:
Main beach and the spit are great. not surfers, too many swimmers and flags
Nobbys beach
Palm Beach 23rd ave
The southern beaches by kirra work best in N or NW. Best in winter.

In the broadwater at shearwater park and loaders creek (behind KFC) for flat water fun.

The beaches here are crowded with swimmers and surfers so allways keep a look out.
