I'm moving back to Oz from Dubai in November 07. Dubai is well known for light - moderate winds so I started kiting a year ago rather than sit on the beach as a frustrated windsurfer.

I'll be driving from Brisbane to Sydney ( mid November) and would like to know of good kite spots for my experience (IKO Level 3)on the way down the coast. Most of my kiting has been on choppy water with shore break to deal with in moderate winds (12 - 18 kts) so I don't want to try the scary stuff (large waves and 30 kts).

Can anyone recommend some good places that are not too radical where there will be other kiters on the beach. I have a 13m F1, 9m Liquid Force, 136 board. Will those sizes be OK for the conditions?

Also...can we still kite on Botany Bay? I windsurfed there for years and watched the kiters off Brighton le Sands but have heard rumours of a possible ban.

Thanks any one for your help.

Hi Kathy there plenty of really good spot between Brisbane and Sydney. Talk to glen From X-Shore for info on the Forster Tuncurry area. There is plenty of flat and surf.

There's no ban on Botany Bay. Just don’t kite north of the Shark net at Bay St. President Ave; Dolls Point and Kurnell are other popular spot for Flat water/Chop
Wanda, Long reef, and Palm beach. For Surf .

Look at The NSWKBA and SEQAKA sites for more location info.
