Where are the preferred launch positions on Lake Weyba..?
Down Weyba Drive??
Nyell Rd??

Want to put some sessions in to get the 'upwind' thing going on!

Where does everyone go in SE & NE's?

Cheers

Ed

hi Parafin,Booreen pt is better than Weyba, even though it is probably close for you to get to,I have found that it is a little gusty at Weyba and a bit hard to launch and land if you have not a buddy to help.....not much clear area to work with, anyway,s P.M me if you can find some time to go to Booreen Pt I get up there to practice all skillls and there is alway's a friendly kiter to help you.....and a cold beer at the Abalonion Hotel to wash away the salt water after a sesh...Roo

Have to agree with Rooey. Lake Weyba is gusty in any wind direction - give it a miss. Lake Cootheraba via Boreen Pt is better - still tending gusty as most inland lakes tend to be, but for sure rideable. Had plenty of good days there myself. Works in both SE and NE winds. Not enough beach for a safe self launch so bring a friend or self launch on the water.

Weyba's cool in SE's. Having said that, I've had some good sessions in Southerleys and recently Easterleys. It can get a bit gusty but then if you walk out a bit it seems to become a bit more consistent I've found. I've been up there a couple of times this week, launching from Lake Weyba Drive and even in 12 knots (i'm riding a 12m bow, weighing 85kg) I've been getting some good upwind action - had to work the kite a bit though. Boreen Pt on the other hand is good in NE as Rooey mentioned. Depends on where you live; I'm in Coolum and Weyba is convenient, otherwise I hit the sea in a NE.

Best of all, no killer shore break at either of the lakes...

Ended up having a last minute session at the rivermouth last Saturday - went down with tony at 4pm just for a look and the wind came up. Kited until about 6pm.

Rivermouth is the way to go for flat water in an easterly. We are going camping up at Lake Cootharaba on the 1st of December. Will be taking the kiting gear up. If it's windy up there on the day I'll give you a call...
