sorry mate kitekid is talking out his arse.tons of wind and waves is just being greedy bastard and wants it all for himself.sw are starting to come in so should be good.ignore the bloke on the beach who hires windsurfing equip.complete ****er.camp ground down south end is one to go.walk to the beach.if you can, before booking walk around camp site and get site at soutern end under the tree.(if tenting)as other end you get blown away each day and sunburnt.have fun and don't be greedy share the waves...

Better then camping stay at lancelin lodge - I think its $20 a night and you get a made bed and a nice clean kitchen etc. Its mostly kiters and pole boarders there so give it ago. www.lancelinlodge.com.au/ (I am not affiliated - I just like it there)

I second that! Trish and Trev are excellent hosts. Price is right and most of the guests are friendly. Facilities are also well maintained. TV, DVD player couches, volleyball court and a swimming pool!!!

Cant beat that in Lano. I stay there everytime I'm in Lancelin. YHA members are entitled to further discounts

You'll prb find other kiters who are at the lodge. 6 pple to a shared room.

"don't be greedy share the waves..."
i did not master that sharing thing at kindy.
yes i did have my tongue firmly in my cheek.
they are right about the lodge.
i don't see the problem with werner if you stay upwind away from his learners he is ok.
remember kites are technically banned (not enforced yet) in the bay so be safe we don't want to be banned.

FLUMP or lancelin foreshore plan ratified by gingin council last year - read it on their website. all recommendations agreed too - one of them is that kiting should be restricted to south of eddies point and north of the point inside lano island.

does that mean no launching between eddies and lano island point? or no riding.

Wont change a great deal considering most people launch at eddies and kite out to the reefs.

Just don't go out north of eddies unless you can hold ground.

Not sure of the legal status but the recreation zones on the maps in FLUMP cover the ocean as well. Not a lawyer: will insurance cover you if you are in a banned area?
There is a negative perception of kites in the town due to a series of incidents over the years (people going over sanddunes into houses, kites falling on kids, etc) that's why it was banned from the grassed area. As it should be as that area is crowded with gusty wind.
Just be careful or more bans will be implimented.
