I think his boards are made to be foil mountable - they are made by Lift same as his foils.

You could certainly ask a shaper to install a set of US boxes in a surfboard to use with plate mount foils. I don't know if I'd cut the stringer to install a tuttle box however. That might weaken the board too much.

I applied one to a broken down fish that I had just to learn. I router-ed out a section and laminated a timber mounting block and the section. Then mounted my foil. It worked just fine to learn on, though at 6 foot the board was a little too big. It was a good cheap option to get me out there and give it a crack.
