One of Torquay's crew ( Surfer 62 ) has shot off his mouth once too often.
He reckons Ozone Zephyr 17 is over rated as a light wind kite. He claims his 12 Takoon Pure and Stonker TT is a better option.

Well, I’m here to issue him ( the mouth from the south) a challenge to an up wind course race form Torquay’s White Beach / Posso’s to Point Danger (depending on the wind direction).

Details yet to be finalised, but hoping for it to happen on the 13th Feb 2010. Knowing him he will come up with some gay excuse.
The race will be conducted in 8 > 12 knots to see which combo rules in light winds.

The wager is still to be decided but I reckon My Zephyr and Slingshot Glide will be collecting.(might even get a race board for the occasion)

Let me know if any of you guys want to join in for a bit of light wind fun?

Afterwards we might have a down winder back to the cars and partake in a few beers.

Maybe Goshen and Alex can bring their demo’s along?

What, do I take that as a COP out? Opppp's done it again

I'm not pimping, just replying to your e-mail.

No doubt what you fly and ride works for you but as a light wind combo, Pffft.

Are ya gunna have a go or back out like a nancy boy? maybe Airush Geoff was right about you.[}:)]

Guys not to take HAAK parts here but a Pure 12m would not even fly when the Zephyr is already going!!! This is not pimping the Zephyr but is the reality...
Seen it on my beach... The Pure has problem flying in less then 10 knots.
Maybe a Takoon Crono 15m can be a bit of a match.

I bet my 12m royal era and my under ground FLX 128 would be comparable.....

not kidding, i have been out on my 12 and the only other kite in the air was a 17 Zephyr and he was on a surf board. I was not going upwind quite as much as him but pretty close, i was on my 128

Anyone can kite in strong winds but to kite in light winds, well thats a different story.

Light wind and fun in the same sentence, you've got to be kidding! I honestly don't know why people bother in anything less than 15 knots.

Yeah guys I agree, light wind kiting is a pain the rear end but it beats sitting on the beach.

62, that massage Nigel gave you in my van certainly put a smile on your face the next morning.

Cankite, don't get caught in the trap of thinking a surf board is a good light wind board. They work but not as good as a flat TT.

I would rather spend all day on redtube than spend all day walking up the beach like a twat.

Maybe all of you guys are lucky...
But if I have to wait for a 15+ knots day I would probably kite around 30 days in a year!!! Against the current over 200 days in a year!!
How about that...
When wind is too strong water and waves texture are not that good!
Best is about 13-16 knots after it get's too choppy.

I know what Jankie is on about, it’s all about your perspective. In South Asia if it hits 15 knots, you think all your birthdays have come at once! And what’s really sad is that you sometimes get desperate enough that you will even do a few walks of shame just to get your ‘fix’. Oh well at least the wakeboarding is good!

Ozone Zephyr 17 - IMO it's a great lightwind kite.

Jankie – I guess you had better break out the small kites mate, because that low pressure system of the NW of Aus should push some awesome winds onto Bali over the next week or so.

I would be keen to hear if anybody has tested the ozone zepher againts the EH 13m ovando, or at least heard how they compare. EH make some pretty big claims about the ovando and even if they are exaggerated a bit, a 13m kite is much more appealing than a 17m kite for many different reasons
