I'm off for a family weekend at Lake Macquarie. Was wondering if the lake is kite-able? Any know know where to launch etc?

If not the lake itself, are there any spot recommendations for the coastal side of Lake Macquarie?

Thanks

have been out every day this week on the lake, we corse race from a place called Marmong point sailing club and there are ofter TT there too, today looks promising for a good NE as well so will be kicking out there again.

The lake is Huge so depending where you are staying depends where you will go, its a little harder to launch in NE conditions so most TT riders will head to any 1 of the many beaches from Caves beach to nelson bay. nobbies being a very popular beach.

weekend looks like NE so beaches will probably be your best bet.

Thanks AGK.

I'm staying on the Coal Point road peninsula. Looks like the coast is a bit of a drive around the lake, so will look to hit the lake from one if the little beaches on the peninsula. Any recommendations for that ona NE?

Thanks man, much appreciated!

i launched from coal point boat ramp 3 hrs ago, had an awesome 2hr race board session then just made it back in, could only launch there as when i left had alot of E in it and as it builds it swings to the NE making it impossible to launch from there, but if you get out early its fine, i just come screaming in and let the kite fall the last few mtrs.
i live on Coal Point aswell and there are alot of little bays just depends how ballsy you want to be . try marmong point or the the end of bolton point if its cranking NE.

Wangi is perfect in a NE. as long as you can self water launch and land. that was my 2nd goto idea for today, the NE is perfectly cross shore at wangi sailing club and lots of rigging space. good shallow water out the from to walk out and water launch yourself.

arcadia vale not so much

we have been riding at wangi alot on the race boards over the last 2 months

That sounds good! I only brought my Whip surfboard and a 10m Evo. I figures if I get out on the lake the flatwater will be good to practice tackso . But might drive round for a play in the waves instead.
Let's hope the forecast is accurate.... :)

Went to Blackies, saw a group of kiters that just finished their downwinder (around 430). Had a play in the waves, quite nice just a bit too onshore.

Thanks for your advice, all!
