Its a lake!! Water launch from one spot, surrounded by tall trees (gusty) but only chest deep at best. Lots of ppl swear by it though.

There's not a great deal of merit in your plan. Just go down Eumerella and keep walking upwind.

+ shallow (don't think this means safer)

- gusty in all directions (best perhaps strong N)
- stingrays
- sea lice (actually nematocyts or larval jellyfish) itch like hell
- no convienient launches in SE
- submerged occasional oyster encrusted rocks
- shallow
- crab pots

If you must launch from an upwind spot in a SE then try:
UPWIND LAUNCH: murdering creek road: gweneth road: lakeside drive (to the west end): walk down easement to the lake; rig in clearing; assisted launch after walking way out into lake; don't try a solo drift launch yet

DOWNWIND PICKUP: Eumerella Road

yeh weyba aint the go really, unless it hell windy, for tommorow i would suggest doing a downwinder. this means that you never have to walk back up the beach so all you have to focus on is learnin to ride! the anne st. to carties strecth will be nice and flat tommorow, just like weyba only less gusty. and im sure your kiting buddy's will wait for ya if you fall behind.

I tried to teach a mate there once - teabag city.
Some tips though:

It takes a fair while to wade out, but we found that out near the middle the wind was much less gusty. Does get deep tho about where the wind was getting better.

You *will* need an assistant to carry your kite out far enough launch - no wind/seriously gusty right next to the shore - so make sure you're rigged right before you go as it's a bastard to try to change your setup out in the middle.

Keep your eye out for golf balls on the bottom, I came back with 6 from 1 session.

Enjoy!
