Greens Lake and Lake Cooper in central Victoria are good spots but the wind strength and direction is very rarely good. And like most inland sites is pretty gusty.

Bigger boosts in gusts! Just saying :)

I grew up in Rochester just next to Greens lake and Lake Cooper. Went kiting there when I was just starting out in 2003. Water is flat, wind was as mentioned fairly gusty. Be very careful with where you launch and land your kite - there are some reeds with some really sharp points. I must have put about 4 pinholes into my kite that day.
I wouldn't get too excited about the lakes - there are heaps of great spots in the ocean. I haven't been back on the lake - it just wasn't worth it for mine. If you want flat water and strong winds, there are heaps of better places. Try Sandy point or Inverloch.

Thanks for the tips guys. Gusts is always an issue, and last thing I want is being tea bagged across the water and into a tree or worse, people. Hmmm ok gave it up on that one. Just need to find calmer and cleaner water without the crap in the bay at the moment. Was thinking of cosey corner near Torquay. Any good?

There is a growing group of Greens lake/ Waranga basin/ Eppalock/ Cairn Curran kiters.

Greens is best in a southerly and can be reasonably steady.
