Just a reminder to all member's. This year at the Lancelin Ocean Classic, Kitesurfing has it's own two events. There will be a Downwind race on Friday the 11th of January. The course is the same as the Windsurfing event following a zig zag course from Ledge to Lancelin. The distance is approximately 26km with the finish line this year in front of the Lancelin Beach Hotel.
Entry fee is $80 with the field limited to 60, first come first served.
All competitor's have to over 18 with at least 3 season's of kiting behind them.
All competitor's have to be Waksa or Aksa members.
All competior's must wear at least a PFD Type 2 and carry 2 flares. Flares could be available by organiser's to those who don't have any but competitor's shouldn't rely on this
There is a prize pool of $2500 to be distributed to place getters depending on number's and type of registration. Trophies will also be awarded to all place getters.
The other Kiting event is a Kitejam freestyle format. This event will be held on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th. On Friday freestyle heats will be held at Edward Island Point. This event is open to allcomer's with the Jam Format allowing competitor's to express themselves in rolling 10 minute, 4 person heats. At the end of the day's competition the top 4 from the senior and top 3 from the juniors will be chosen for a flat out expression session on the Saturday afternoon in front of the Lancelin Beach Hotel. This final will be run over approximately a couple of hours to be completed just before the Windsurf Downwind Race is finishing. Placegetters will be chosen from this session.
