Hi I have a leaky valve. I'm windy but that doesn't concern me, what does is the inflation valve on my 10m, it leaks! It leaks from where the male bit is inserted into the female bit. Do I just replace the valve or has anyone experimented with other dodgy solutions such as blue tack, plumbers tape or.......???? Please help

On another note love the beard sir Rowdy and a fun vid.

Carefully tensioned zip tie will do the job for a while.
I made an oversized plug and that worked ok too.
Otherwise new stick on one way valve.

And don't leave your inflate plug in when finished kiting for the day. Take it out each time and allow the female part to return to normal size

and of course regular pelvic floor exercises.

Do you regularly leave your plug in the valve?? - its a good way to stretch the valve body so that your 'male' bit just cant do it anymore - I always unplug all male 'bits' when packing the kite LOL - oh and what is the kite brand ??

Yep had this problem, simple fix - grab some electrical tape, wrap the male bit a few times ; no more leak

A free stuffed toy to Rob S.
No one does this. Why not. You have to pull it out next time you inflate so why not take that second in time & do it straight after you pull the deflate valve. ????!
It's right there beside you.
So much grief created for kiters who bring in kites thinking they are staring down the scrap & replace path. Only to find its a simple fix. 1x new valve @ the very worst.
Read this & do it ESP when its hot.

The simple solution.
Cut the inflate nozzle of your kite pump to where the end diameter just fits into your valve cap.
Boil up the inflate cap then insert the pump nozzle right to the top. This will stretch the cap to a wider profile. Dunk the cap & valve stem into cold water & allow to cool. Cap will now seal tight in the valve.
Remove the inflate valve stopper EVERY time you deflate your kite. It's a no brainier - once you know!

Thanks peeps will definitely be removing the male end from now on to prevent undue stretching of my female piece.
Kite is a nobile 50/50 not kites fault at all been very happy with it but of course with unwarranted plugging the female end would end up stretched! I'm reformed an easy forum fix and 20-25knts tomorrow :) thanks again!!

Hi,

Kite valves are generally injection moulded polyurethane which has a certain memory of their original shape. Stick it in boiling water for ten minutes and it will shrink back to original size. Easy.
