I'm thinking of unhooking in waves and was wondering how I should attach my leash.

Is there any way I can do it without the kite flagging and the lines tangling if I let go of the bar unhooked - it's an airush and currently on one front line, above the bar / trim rope and attached to my harness hook by a spinner?

I think on the chicken loop side is the answer? If so, can I flag the kite if I needed to and how?

Many thanks in advance.

How many times have you unhooked in the surf and had to drop the bar?

In surf i would stick with the standard safety the kite comes with and if it all turns to **** and you have to go back to the beach to sort it out its better than being drowned by running a suicide leash(hooked to your chicken loop).

Watching Ben Wilson ride sometimes doesnt run a leash at all, probably would not recomend it but shows the less perminant atached to the kite the better.

pretty sure not all people are sponsered and can afford to destroy a kite every session by not hooking in with a safety leash.

i just hook onto the chicky loop, if sh!t happens, just release the safety leash.

dont no if this will work with your bar but what i do is attach the leash to the 5th line and then hook it onto the chicken loop as well. the 5th line holds the leash up near the top of the chicken loop so its out of the way and if all goes bad pull the safety and the leash will slide off the chicken loop and flag it to 5th line. depends on your bar. im not familiar with airush but it works on my vegas.

Wonnakite just hooks his leash up to his normal safety point which is just above his chicken loop then pulls a bit of line down and also clips his leash to the chicken loop so both are conected. you just need to make sure when you pull your chicken loop quick release that your leash will slide off over the end, then it will just flag out. If your normal safety attachment isnt near the chicken loop this will not work. With yours being above the bar if you want to run suicide leash then your only safety is to release the kite completely.

o**** handles are just tabs on your side lines that you can grab or hook on to for a single line full flaging safety. some kites they can be used to back the kite out of a nose down position. really have nothing to do with un hooking.

My advice is to keep runing the safety the way you are, if you loose your board in the surf just hold on to the bar you dont have to let it go, then grab the chicken loop and hook back in. most people run a suiside leash when they are learning passes etc when they are likely to drop the bar but land ok they just pull the kite back down and keep ridding.

Wonnakite - you are right on the money, Will work with the Airush Generators and probably the Vapor just fine.
Nathan from NEW is the guy to speak to about this set-up. It works perfectly.

If it's anything else with four - dunno

your system sounds like the four line safety system. this can be done easliy, all you got to do is get a length of rope long enough to reach from CL to the ring where you currently put your leash.
1. Loop the length of rope around the ring wher you would normally put you leash
2. run that rope along the centre depower line and through the hole on your bar and find a hole on the CL to pass it through aswell, the CL will act as a stopper so it always stays a constant length.
3. put a ring on the CL side of this rope.
4. attatch leash to this ring as well as "suicide" on the CL.. this way the kite wont flag onto one line when you accidently let go but if you need it to all you do is pull your QR, your leash slips off the CL as it opens and ur still attatched to the new ring so your kite flags off onto that one line.
