Yo. I've only been kiting a few weeks but totally addicted. Seen a lot of people leaving their ribs inflated, I've recently started doing this and love it due to the quickness of set up and packing away.

Are there any disadvantages to doing this? Obviously leaving the kite somewhere it can get hot is a no-no. Is leaving the ribs inflated from weekend to weekend too long?

Cheers

Hey Rescueme,

Leaving the struts inflated wont hurt your kite but the necks of the valves will stretch having the stopper in all the time. The struts will also slowly go down so you will have to pump them up hard next time anyways.

The valves can be reset by pouring really hot water over them or soaking them in hot water and allowing them to cool.

You've already mentioned the hot car thing .... bang

Good winds,

This is interesting. When deflating the struts I have been putting the stopper in afterwards, to try and reduce flying sand getting into the bladders. Sounds like its not the best idea - but if the valves are easy to reset then thats no prob. Think I'll only leave the struts inflated if I'll be going out again within a day or two.
