Hi there

I am moving to Melbourne end of July. I'm looking for someone who lives in or around docklands area who can give me a lift when they go out kiting. I am game for any weekend kiting, winter or summer and I am happy to chip in cash for fuel etc. I believe the winter kiting (which is when I arrive) requires a bit of a drive, hence the reason I am asking about lifts.

Can anyone tell me how accessible are the usual summer spots in St Kilda via public transport?

Unfortunately my wife only arrives January so I am stuck without a car until she arrives because she is getting issued a company car and we don't want to get two cars right now.

Hi there, we probably wont be doing much kiting in the winter but you can catch several trams down to st kilda

16 - Down St Kilda road
96 - Down next to Albert park
112 - Down park st

Just a couple of minutes walk.

Happy Kiting

Thanks Ran. I'm being transferred over from Johannesburg, South Africa for about 2 and a half years, maybe longer depending on how things go. Flew over a week ago to watch the Melbourne GP and get the apartment sorted so now I'm just finishing a project and then I head over end of July.

Most of our kiting inland is in winter so I'm used to the cold water, just need to collect another wetsuit for myself, my one here is a little tatty and not worth wasting my baggage allowance for.

Will call you when I get in town. Appreciate the help.

Thanks for the info on the trams, snowman. The tram station is just outside my apartment so for summer trips to St Kilda it should be the bomb.

Do we need to join the KBV to kite around Melbourne in the main spots? I have no problem joining the local association and paying my dues if I am going to be taking advantage of the local riding conditions.

Docklands to St kilda is probably kitable at least one way.

Just stand on Beaconsfield Pde. in your speedos someone will be sure to offer you a lift.

I think I'd get deported if you saw what I look like in a speedo.
