Hi,
Anyone out there tried the 15m SS Octane yet as a light wind wave kite?
Review would be appreciated.

Currently got a good light wind kite for flat water cruising. Kite is to slow and bar pressure to heavy in waves.

Looking for a kite with good bottom end BUT LIGHT on the bar.

If you are open to something different from what most people have, I would recomend the Speed3 12m for the 10-20 knot range in the surf if you are less than 80kg, and the 15m if you are over 80kg: the low end is impressive, bar pressure is super light, and stability is excellent (which is important for wave riding in light wind conditions).

cheers

Try to have a look to the Ozone Light 14m XC.
Is a great wave kite, turn ok for a 14m and bar pressure is light.
Low is not special.. But is my kite for wave riding in light wind.

HAAK, on a serious note, check out the BOM stats for Aireys Inlet today (Tues) 5pm - 6pm. Very marginal winds sub 10 knots most of the time.

I had the 2010 15m Wainman "Big Mother" out at Danger.

I was on my trusty Stonker 135 tt, flat water no swell, I was holding ground most runs in and out, went down wind only about 50m or so a few times. We are about the same weight, heavy boned

Even in the marginal winds it still turned quite fast, 3 strut, nice bar setup, trim cleat above the bar, low bar pressure ( bar pressure was about the same as my 12m Flow FT ) and plenty of tuning options, very nice feel for a big kite and it is a big kite. This might be the kite you are looking for.

Next time you are over see Alex and demo it.

Thanks guys,

Might see if I can get a demo on a Speed 3 15.

Jankie,
Really after something with bottom end. I've got a 12 LightXC, very nice kite but I don't think the 14 would have enough bottom end for what I'm after, I'm not a light weight like you.

62,
Are you getting kick backs from Alex? you should be
I'll get the cops onto you if you have lost that cap.

The 14m have about 2 knots more low end.
Maybe the Wainman could be a good solution.
I liked very much the 12m, low end very similar to the Ozone XC 12m.
So probably the 15m has more low the the XC 14m.
Bye Jankie
