The wife said to me: "maybe you need another kite". Too often I don't go out because there isn't enough wind.

I have an Airush Lithium 9m and a Airush DNA 12m (similar to the Lithium). I like the look of the 15m Cabrinha Vector but perhaps there are advantages in getting another kite from the same stable as the ones I have? Hence the Airush Lithium 16m.

I am only just starting to jump and am not yet landing them. So not quite a beginner but not much better than that either. 92kg.

I might be confusing the Vector with the Contra

I have the 15.5 solo . I was the only kite out today in ocean grove around 5 pm. I was mowing the lawn . There are a lot of big kites and everyone has an opinion. Try before you buy. Also board selection makes big difference, an last buy second had. cheers

The single strut kites have a great low end
But certainly suffer at their upper end compared to multi strut designs
Actually the vector not contra imho

Don't bother with the vector . I had one a couple of years ago and got rid of it after a few sessions. Way to gutless there are better kites out there than that .

A few locals here who used to fly 12m kites are now on 10.5m Naish Draft's and enjoying light wind sessions.

Definitely put the Liquid Force Solo on your list, amazing bottom end and super fun and easy.

We have some awesome deals on the 17.5mt at the moment as well.

I was about to say the same. For your weight being in the low 90 pies, I would go for a big 17-19m LEI kite or a 15 hmm maybe 18m foil kite. The Chrono 18m will definetely keep you stoked in 10knots or slightly less

I understand the 16m One was not a good kite.

If I were you, I would be looking for a 14m Lithium, or maybe a 17m Lithium

Stick with the same, will make life easier for you
Board choice plays a big part in it too. As suggested earlier

Maybe look for a 14 Lith & a big light wind board, like a King George or similar?

The treasurer has signed off on a new Lithium 17m.

But is seems like a big step up from my 12? I have a 148 Cab Spectrum, so that should be OK until I think about a specialist light wind TT or a directional next summer.

I feel a bit nervous about hooking onto such a big kite...

So all I need from you is to tell me to grow a pair and go buy it.

Slightly off topic but I bought a 5m vector to teach my kids, have had it out a few times in 30 knots when my 8 was maxxed out and had an absolute ball

I also had a 12m vector for a short time, def less grunt than the equivalent sized switchblade but much easier to use and turn in lighter winds

Tried a Contra once 15m I think, I did no better in light winds than my 10m switchy, I think it may work better for the plus-sized kiters.

Power of the wind increases proportionally (cubed) with speed...so you don't really want "linear" jumps in sizes. And it depends what your local's sweet spots are. Lots of guys here go from 17 to 12 or smaller.

Squared, not cubed. Energy = 1/2mass x velocity squared.

Not to sure if it is squared or cubed, but either way I have made a purchase and am hoping for a steady 13 knots. Thanks for your help.

That would be a measure of kinetic energy eg a body in motion.

I assume rotor area is analogous to kite area...
