Hey all, first post for me.

I'm just getting started in the sport. I've had all my lessons and now it is just watertime that i need. I currently ride a 2006 16m2 Naish Boxer with a 2006 Naish Haze 146 board. Im about 110kg and recently we've been getting pretty crap wind when i've been out (<15knot). I'm flying the kite ok in this wind, and when it picks up i'm starting to get up easy enough. But most of the time im just stalling by sinking the board.

Im thinking of investing in a lightwind board (Prolly 14Xcm x 45-50). Can you guys tell me whats out there, the only one i've really heard of recently is 2007 Naish Custom Wide Twin-Tip. I've also been told the Haze has a fairly huge rocker for our waters and i should be looking at something prolly half the rocker size.

Any advice?

Hey give yourself a chance mate.
Its heaps easy to get swept up in this sport spending money left right and centre. After a while i discovered what i needed to spend, like you was more time on the water.
Ask someone on the beach to check your moving the kite through the window properly. Most new guys get up ok then stall the board because they dont keep the kite moving properly.
Good luck.

Hi Tvelligus,

Try looking at the Airush Protoy Exile, ultimate light wind performance, almost impossible to buy second hand which speaks volumes.

Kiteworld did a review of light wind boards 2 issues back I think, The Airush rated very highly.

See what others say.

Good winds and welcome to the sport,

every kite brand has a good modern real mans board.
find a good retailer that stocks a few brands and doesn't ridicule another brand because he doesn't have access to that product.
and....dive your kite to get power dude!!!!!

if you weigh that much you will be doing well to get going in under 15k with anything but a surfboard. dont stress it, wait for more wind and you'll be fine

mate - order yourself a custom cardboard made by Dan at Cardboards in Hervey Bay. I have a 136x45 and it is awesome. He can custom any size shape and graphic, has a quality product and will be the best value out there. ALso check in with Adrenalin rush sports as they stock them.
