My secondhand 10m comes with extremely long lines, I'm guessing 30m there abouts. The lines are abit faded and tatty at the ends, so instead of potentially breaking on me in the water I'm going to have them modified for piece of mind.

Can anyone tell me if there is a prefered length of line for beginners. I know this will vary from kite to kite, style to style, but there must be a general concensus, also what are the pro's con's for each.

Is there an easy way of finding out what the manufacturer recommends best for each of their kites Maybe the default lenght when sold, or can you pick your lenght when purchasing. For the cost of a new kite I'm sure they must give choices hey

Anyhow any info on lines would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure 27m is about the average.

As for being a beginner and what lines would be best, short lines are only really an advantage powered up in the waves because the kite has less distance to travel to get from one side of the wind window to the other. All other disiplines suffer slightly from shorter lines I have found, but that is my personal preferance and everyone is different.
