Got emailed this..

Quote "This hydrofoil named "seaglider" gives to the rider a real new experience, between sailing, kitesurfing and paragliding ! Flight feeling and upwind efficiency is amazing"

Looks like some sort of submerged boat in the water to act as an anchor? Yikes.

Thoughts?

Interesting... I wonder how you steer the anchor bit? I mean it doesn't really matter if the 'upwind efficiency is amazing' if you want to go downwind!

Can you steer the submerged boat bit?

As we know tethering never ends well...

Remember the first kite-ski's - the triangluar, rigid framed kites used...took only 13 more years to get what we have now. This looks fun but lame, but it is the start on what we all know will come... sooner than later.

Wow! Real innovation. I agree with Eppo - it looks lame now but this is a major new idea: using tension rather than compression to connect to the source of lateral resistance. This will surely lead to new ideas that are at this stage completely unpredictable.

Still, I'll offer some starters: Think of it like one kite in the air and another in the water. You could equally somehow put the air-kite on autopilot, turn the kiter around and have control lines attached to the anchor-foil thing. Or make it a two-person "vessel" with one person controlling each foil.

When I despair of humanity's capacity for destruction I get some solace from knowing that we've yet to really do more than scratch the surface of our creative potentials.

I dunno, paragliding or kiteboarding, pick one or the other; looks like too much of a compromise of both to be any long term fun.

Always good to see innovation of the sorts

hi stephane,
mate i'd like to give you some honest feedback on your submarine. It sucks. Why would you want to pedal power drag all that fuselage throught the water using up even more of your air. Thats why most other products/ sleds are seld propelled - so you dont use your air. Also you're still getting wet so what are you actually acheiving? Far less bottom time hauling a large frame through the water. Good shark protection maybee, but there are other better alternatives. airship and kite thing might be good tho

went well until i got out in the deep water >10m

i need a quick release on the anchor rope though....

If you after hang time, get a hang glider. Outside of controlled airspace you can get to 10,000' and the x-c flight record in Australia is around 500+ km's. Only a personal thought.

Sorry to burst the bubble - but what an absolute load of Crap !!

Im seein it for what it is and it does not inspire me to want to get a tiny bit of air with restricted freedom by being tethered to a drag anchor..

if you want airtime go Paragliding
if you want to kitesurf and trick/megaloop/surf go kitesurfing

Adrenalin junkies we are - and being restricted in flight just doesnt cut in in my book

The water jet pack is the buzz if you really lookin for a drag anchor

Back to the drawing board dude

@ Whales - give the guy a break. It does look fun, and wouldn't it be cool to have more airtime while your kiting?

Although you are right it doesn't make much sense to have an anchor, but then again Suping doesn't make much sense or Land Suping? What is that about? But people still do it.

Also Whales - Jet Packing would be awesome. Why can't we buy those yet?

Brilliant stuff Mate

Its people like you pushing their ideas and innovations that invented all these great sports in the first place.

There are always a few narrowminded people out there to knock every new itea. Just because its not your idea of fun doesnt mean its not a good thing or may lead to something else good.

When the first kites came out windsurfers laughed them off the beach, now look-

Keep up the good work mate

Interesting, I'd like to know if they could make the anchor thing a lot thing smaller and still function though, and how does it go in a swell / waves ?

Man that is extremely clever

I particularly like how it uses the drag on the string to keep it at the correct depth in the water...

Very inspiring
