Looking for anyone who kites in the nowra,Ulladulla,Batemans bay area or anyone who has been kiteing there. New to the area haven't seen anyone kite???

Hi Luke, there are a few of us at Batemans and further south, you'll find someone out at Broulee in a NE, and I know of a couple of kiters in Ulladulla, plus plenty of Canberra kiters head down this way. A few suggestions, Shoalhaven Heads, Jervis (get in touch with Dave at Dr Surf), Green Island at Lake Conjola, Broulee.
There is no shortage of surf beaches, but if you're looking for safe flat water you'll have to be a bit more picky.

there is a kite shop in huskisson. I have called them before about south coast kiting. Apparently people kite in jervis bay near huskisson and on the huge beach that begins at shoalhaven heads. My oldies live just south of ulladulla so eventually i am looking to kite down there. At the moment i am enjoying the final stages of shoulder surgery recovery but could be down that way in march with my gear. Good luck mate

I stayed in Huskisson over Chrissy, never saw a kite shop, and none of the locals mentioned one except for Dr Surf/Dave?

yeah my bad i meant doctor surf steve. he happened to mention a spot on jervis bay near husky.

At Toby's suggestion I've been to Green Island (Lake Conjola) a few times now - definitely a great spot, although it can get a little up-and-down in the shadow of the island itself, and as it's offshore in the NE it can become problematic when you can't get your kite back in the air (as I learned a couple of weeks ago and it took me more than 30 mins to swim in and nearly lost my kite in the rocks and waves. Valuable lesson!)

The best access I've found is to go about 5km past the main Lake Conjola access road to Red Head Road (I think) which will eventually take you to the north side of the lake (Cunjurong). This means you don't have to negotiate the fierce current at the lake entrance with all your gear. You can, of course, launch on the south side and kite over but I found that VERY difficult the one time I tried it with the wind being too gusty in the shadow of the island for me to hold a line and the kite was constantly luffing. On the other hand, the other 2 guys didn't seem to have that problem ;)

Plenty of room on the beach for your kooky'est self-launch/land too.
