Hey,

were a belgium couple thant wants to travel troughout aussie
during one year starting in september.
We're looking for great kitespots and accompanied windstatistics
to know where to be when !!

It would be nice if someone could help us, thx !!

September would be good to start up north in western australia, say in geralton. Should be windy there then. You could hang there till november, or check out Cervantes and Lancelin on the way down. Perth should be windy by late october/early november. then work your way down safety bay, mandurah, marget river and on to Augusta denmark and finally esperance in January/Febuary. Then you can head across nullabor to Adelaide and finally on to Melborne March/April. You could then head up the east coast to Sydney. In winter I think it is windy up in North queensland, port douglas and caines region but someone else may know more about that. I have driven across Oz three times, it is an awesome experience. I found some good charts about wind speed / direction for the four seasons: www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/wrselect.shtml

The only fact which is still hiding in these charts is whether it is gusty or steady wind.

We are two guys from Germany and we were hoping for a good wind in autumn. At least that's what we are used from Europe. Western Australia seems to be quite different.

And I am adding a question to this topic:
If you are going to WA for two weeks, is it worth taking your windsurfing/kitesurfing gear on your trip ?!

I think our plans are in trouble now!

It is just hard to figure out surfing conditions via the Internet. WA seemed to be a good choice if you go further north,
