My Prediction is this........

The extreme watersport called Kitesurfing will self-destruct within 5 years due to excessive kooking-out!

True or False ??

(OK, so call me pessimistic, I dare ya).

Let's see,
They predicted the end of the movie theatre with video tape.
They said skateboarding would die in the mid 80s (how's tony hawke doing?)
They predicted the end of record sales with the cassette tape.
They said snow boarding wouldn't last 2 seasons because of all the kooks.
Kite boarding is here to stay and I'm in it for the long haul. All I need is to figure out how to live forever!

I'm sure someone will invent a special pill to turn back the years. I don't see kitesurfing dying out. Some parts of the world may reach saturation point but that'll mean new kiteboardin hotspots will be formed.

It will die out when the wind stops blowing.
At your ripe age waveslave yes you are pessimistic.

"dying out... due to excessive kooking out"
Thats the funniest thing i've ever heard...
They though that would happen to bodyboarding also.....
The younger generation are already taking the sport to the next level that the older riders could never do.
A sport like this only attracts more and more young people the more social it becomes & the more the kids see the tricks as being cool. Popular sports with the public never die out completly, they just go underground for a while then they return with the next generation of people, & good marketing brings it back into the public veiw to grab a new generation of youngsters which keep the sport going.

If your kiting still at the age of 51 waveslave, then looks like i've still got 25 years or so of kiting up my sleeve.

Hey PsYLoR,
Maybe you missed my initial point?
What I'm predicting is the possibility of authoritys coming down hard on kitesurfing due to reckless acts by kitesurfers themselves.
And I mean coming down hard, like regulated spots for kitesurfing with total bans on most beaches. Think watersking, wakeboarding.

I'm not suggesting the sport is going to die because of a lack of stoke. Far from it, kitesurfing kicks arse!

And yeah PsYLoR,(and if my prediction is proven wrong and I hope so),
look forward to your next 27 years of ripping.

Can you imagine how far kite technology would have moved by then ?
