During these windless weeks that we face, what would the minimum wind speed possible be, to ride a surfboard strapless (6'4")in the surf? I need a minimum 15kn on a twintip on flat, maybe 14kn if I wanted to walk.
Would it be better to:
a: ride a smaller kite 9 or 12m and kiteloop for power to catch waves, then park the kite and surf as normal
b: ride a 16m+ and try not get dragged off the board
Anyone tried either option.....it's been weeks, I need to kite, just not surf....or is luffing the kite a huge possibility, dropping it in the impact zone and not be able to get it back up in f'all wind.....help.....

Depends on size of the surf too doesn’t it?

Personally I hate it being under 15 knots in waves over 2 meters...although I don’t ride strapless and just like to pop over white wash to get out the back... anyway cant answer your question.. If you can ride strapless then you ride better than me anyway ..Although getting over the whitewash underpowered - then powered up by down looping all the while on a strapless surfboard... well it sounds bloody challenging!

Yeh, surf size would matter....not thinking straight....No kiting...No thinking....
Would be out in well under 2m waves...say 3-5 feet,
Say you would kick, straps or not, myself only just on the surfboard in flat(backside, toeside, jibing etc none of that funky ollie stuff), and a cr@p surfer at that...just need to get out(normally on TT in the surf),...man I could go a gusty offshore storm front right about now

Sorry Goose, your 18-20kn SE would be that gusty offshore front I wanted, however it never hit my spot, and where's Wanda....I knew a girl that went by that name....use to get an excellent session there too, looks like it might be coming in this tomorrow and monday....about kn time

Come down to Esperance next week, it suppose to be 20 knots and up to 4 meter swell (well that was the seabreeze.com.au forecast yesterday for Tuesday) ... wooohoo.. Fluck I hope it doesn’t rain - I hate getting wet
