Mauritius

Just got back from two weeks in Mauritius. SENSATIONAL…..

We stayed at La Colombiere, Studios & Apartments, great spot (has a web site if you want to check it out). Its located in small bay with great flat shallow water, 90% sand a few rocky bits but clearly viable through the turquoise waters. Its then a few tacks out to the reef and some of the flattest water just inside the break and for the adventurous the waves.

The apartments have a grassy area out the front which is ideal for rigging up and for sitting out of the wind and watching the kiting show. The apartments are simple but, priced reasonably. (don’t expect Asia prices I found it comparative to Oz)

The area is a little isolated so there isn’t much in the way of nightlife, however there is a large contingent of travelling kiters so if you have any energy left at the end of the day there is aleways somebody to have a beer with and talk the talk.

If I lived on the west coast and could chop 5 hours of the flight from Melbourne I would make this a regular winter escape.

Two weeks on a ten meter with with a choice of lfat water and waves at your doorstep what more could you want..

Ps it is Mauritian winter so a spring suit was nice but not necessary and its great if you can get out of the wind as it seemed to blow 24 hours
