Hi guys,,the good people from Best Kiteboarding Australia just sended me some pics and details from the NEW KAHOONA V3 here a sneak info from what its new,,

New graphics,,
Faster turning speed,

All this sounds good to me,,,for those who has a v2 im sure you guys love this kite,,think some v3 kahoonas are gona be for demo in kitestock,,finger cross we can get those kites for demo,,,will keep you guys updated as much as i can,,,

This has got to be the worst promotion of what I know is a very good kite.

Hybrid bow C foil one pump kite

Shame - I was looking for a delta hybrid bow C one pump RAM LEI kite.

Is it bomb proof?

Two things I hope they have improved...

1. The bar pressure is too great.

2. They are very twitchy at the top end when you need to sheet out suddenly. The outside panels flutter as turbulent wind seems to fly over it.

In their bottom to three quarter range the V2 is a pulling grunt machine that still allows floaty jumps and down line surfing (probably not as good as specific kites but does all quite well).

But the top end, (especially in gusty conditions) is average as these babies have to be flown with back line pressure always.

if they fix these two minor details i can't see myself buying another type of kite. Have loved using them this summer.

I have the 7.5mt and 9.5mt V2. Also probaly around the same level just getting on to my surfboard. Really like the kites , lots of low end grunt and top end keeps going. I pefer lots of power and bar pressure doesn't really effect me. Regarding if you should buy V2 or V3. I would wait for the V3 . If you got the bucks and don't care go for the V2. But V3 has had minor improvements. Release date for thr Kahoonas I don't understand because its still winter in the USA and here its the end of the season.

The price of these kites are great and if they really are that good i might upgrade my old REV. I got on the best site and they are selling discount tickets to get new gear anywhere in the world

Perhaps I've not had it out in *very* strong 30+ winds like you may have..

For me, if its gusty the Kahoona's wing tip pocket might 'shudder/flutter' slightly (especially when very depowered and flown overhead). Like any small kite (7.5) it will move in the direction of the gust. I may be wrong, but that is probably normal when one takes out any kite in such conditions.

I found myself agreeing with you that the kite should be kept on tight back lines when riding generally, else the kite depowers very effectively. On the other hand I found that slack steering lines prevent backstalling in very light conditions. That why I never uses the light winds setting knots.

Funny I've found kite flies much smoother on the light wind setting, find if on the higher wind settings the shudder is much more pronounced. yeh mabey the shudder affects all kites at their top end. But I find it occurs say on the 7.5m around 24 to 25 knots plus. I put it on the light wind settings (closer to the kite) to reduce the shudder. do all kites do this then (this is my first delta-hybrid)

Yeah Eppo that makes sense! On the light wind knot you're tightening the back lines, essentially powering the kite more. You could achieve the same stability effect by flying the kite with the bar more pulled in (not letting it go quite so much). Or not de-powering it excessively at the strap. This is in strong wind.

At the other end of the scale, in very light winds all kites including the Kahoona tend to backstall if the back lines are very tight. Letting the kite breathe (letting the bar out/high wind knot) will prevent this.

All this is probably a bit overly technical, the Kahoona flies very well, these are just some finer points for milking it to the max. Sorry if I'm coming accross like I'm a lecturing smart ar#e and kinda highjacking Resaka's and marnos thread...I'm always happy to be corrected

Yeh it took me a month or so but I think I have got the kite sorted...

It is a kite that needs to be flown with back line pressure and minimal bar movement, using the edge of your board and body weight as much as possible, with only slight depowering in the gusts.

This I like. You drop kite, power up and edge and bang, the power keeps on keeping on, a gust hits and you edge and let the kite take the bar out a little way. A good kite to teach those who have only learnt to kite recently, sheeting in and out way too much causing the so called 'poo' stance.

coming of the warroo had to re-learn this. You also have to be really smooth through the turns because this kite punched a lot of wack, as I found out the hard way. once you can harness this tremendous pull you can ride fast and hard, love it!

I presume all the delta kites do the same.
