My mum is worried about me going to Mackay in July to kite. Can someone please tell me what the conditions will be like? Are there crocs and stingers at that time of year?

It's winter there should be no stingers and for the Crocs don't worry about them the sharks have eaten most of them. HA HA HA[}:)][}:)]

We have very few sightings of crocs. Not a worry at all. No stingers then either. Well look after ya.

Depending on your kiting level there are plenty of places to ride.

-Blacks Beach is great at Low tide for any level rider. Flat water and waves out the back of the sandbar.

-Harbour Beach is good for wave riding and basic riding, just stay out of the Life Savers Flagged area. No flat water there

- East Point has it all. River mouth for current driven flat water (only ride in out going tide), plenty of bay's surrounded by sand bars and flat water as well as wave action out the back. Great little ramps (waves) for trying handle pass 3's etc.

- Town beach, is only rideable at Hgh tide as at low tide the water runs out about 1-2 km. Heaps of flat water and sandbars. Knee deep for ages.

Wind that time of the year is a dominant SE which is perfect. June / July is the highest probabilty of getting wind for the year.

Have fun and call me if you need our team at all
