I've been a bit bored due to the lack of wind and have started making a few kiteboards. I'm up to making straps and wondering if anyone knows where I could buy some stiff material that will stay upright, to use for straps. I figure I can adjust the straps by moving the screws inboard to tighten and out to loosen, therefore no need for velcro. Anyone tried anything or come across some material that looked appropriate?

i wouldn't skimp on straps. buy some nice dakine ones. You can always take them off and put them on a different board when you want.

Hey Cooky,
I'm thinking you must be on a very tight board-making budget.
How about nailing some rubber thongs to the deck of your new board.
We're not fancy but we're cheap.

airborne kitesurfing had a box of decent straps at the carpark sale for $5 each.not sure if that price will apply after the sale.Maybe they want to get rid of them. wouldn`t hurt if you called them.
