Extreme!(ly) marginal wind. Dead onshore, and peaking at about 12 knots, some days less. No waves to speak of. Carnage with many kites and people snaking each other. No Pambula sessions. BBQ excellent diversion.

Usual song and dance routine in pub every night - good fun. Saturday night blighted by police with sniffer dogs as per last year. Figured the police probably either drove all the way from Sydney or Canberra just to heavy a few surfers and kiters in the Lakeside tavern. Three cheers for the NSW tax payer. Last year's drug bust was blamed for the lesser numbers at this years event.

The point of Mambo is not kitesurfing though - it's to see all your mates you haven't gotten drunk with since last year. On these grounds, it was a roaring success. For the kitesurfing record though, the most impressive thing I saw was Lee Kavanagh on a long board, carefully trotting down the nose to hang ten, then doing a neat little pirouette handle pass, with kiteloop. Very cool.

Great event, first time I went and will be definitely going again.
Loved those bacon and egg rolls in the morning, and the kebabs in the aftrenoon.
Great vibe , good to see some of the top kiters in the world bust some nice moves.

110.00 bucks goes a long way at Mambo, average 5 burgers a day, got a t shirt and of course on the last night got a nice board cover for my twin tip as my prize.

To the guys I went away with , did not stop laughing from the time I got there till the the time we left, bring on WA. Oh and to Hopper and the Xshore boys loved those stickers.

Arrived friday night to be told it is "flouro friday" at the pub, must come with "flouro" somewhere on the bod. Well got there, and no-one was there had a nice steak and noticed others arriving including the Pale (slow) northern sydney folks, gene and CJ, Windgenuity crew with flouro hair, etc, etc, within an hour or two the pub was out of control. I ended up with a red cyalume stick on my forehead and a flouro yellow council workers jacket. Danza got his beer, Flexi Jason and Aaron had a great time. Brandon was propositioned by the "big girl" for having the most beautiful chest in the world, but she lucked out and soon moved onto Susi Mai, and other females. I heard she got into a fight with another female on Saturday night, there are some great pics of this "big girl" chatting up various characters, including Tom Court who was dressed with a skeleton mask.
The slingy crew where in full force, Lee Cav was very bright, PJ had a fascination with cracking nuts, and JB nearly drowned. Good to see Chris Richter back on the scene!
At the end of the night after making sure everyone was safe, I left and was asked by Patrick if I could flag down a cab since I was officially dressed, so I stood in the middle of the road and flagged over the next vehicle. I really thought it was a cab, but as it turned out it was the other people that give you a lift, the cops!!!
I waved them on and flagged over the next car and it was a cab, then walked home laughing with JB, PJ, Ange.

Up early to discover that my van had been attacked by operatives from the mid coast, I fixed that by plastering my sticker over theirs and proceeded to the beach.
Got a free coffee for helping the coffee lady and after setting out my display went to make noise over at the flats. Came back showered and ready for my first bacon and egg roll, its the best BBQ!!!!

Wind eventually manifested it was a lightish NE, and so was gusty at the comp area. Several Dolls crew planned a downwinder to Pambula, and probably got the best ride of anyone that day. There were 1/2M waves down there and it was a good direction to ride them. I had a nice walk back from halfway to Pambula, because the wind just ran ouy on me and I had mistakenly swapped to a small board.

Saturday night we had dinner at a seafood restaurant near Pambula, Wilsons I think it was called?? Awesome, lost of fun, we booked the table in the name of Mr Gouzzo, you had to be there! Went to the pub around 10pm, and decided that we could not do it again and went home to sleep.

Sunday, up early again, set up my display again, stickered the Crosspower truck and trailer, and restickered their pathetic efforts to convert my own van to KiteCrossshore. I know about the sticker on the external rear view mirror guys!

Wind came in early about 5 knots from the SE, and eventually had built to a decent 10-12 knots by midday, so I pumped up my 14M SB3 and stole the new Underground proto light wind board. I had a great time for an hour or two before the wind had increased to approx 15/16 knots and more riders on 12M kites could join me. The river mouth area was great and by the end of the day it was packed. There was a lot of riding and lots of people appeared to having a decent time in the tiny surf. The sand banks up at the river mouth allowed me to reach tops speeds in excess of 50 knots, people were commenting on the size of my rooster tails, and I was definitely noticed!

Presentation was a bit "down" in numbers and "entertainment" from the MSC crew but they still showed they have the right stuff. Numerous well know identities were skeletonised, which involved having a handfull of talcum powder thrown on your face and then red lines drawn with lipstick, it was a quality look!

Tried a few places on the way home, but we were ahead of the southerly and missed out, could have gone out at Tuross Heads, but my travelling companions were a bit inexperienced for the spot, so we headed to Sussex and were at least an hour ahead of the Southerly then, so we headed home.

Another great mambo, 27th I think it was (not mine), and have booked my units for next year again!..

great mambo as usual, waking up sometime into the late afternoon and snaggling the last of the BBQ goodness for me and a few mates followed by a shower and a rump steak at the pub. The rest of the time was unreal im sure but a haze at best.

p.s. i can vaguely remember a few things, cam barker (yes just cam barker) and tobes telling me there was sniffer dogs everywhere (i didnt belive him till one came up and sniffed my pocket)

p.p.s never trust anyone with the name SPLUG or any other stupid nickname as it is likley they are from melbourne and know him as well.
