So had a short session yesterday arvo at cotton tree. During one of my head's numerous expeditions underwater I managed to swallow a bunch of water. The first thing i noticed was that it tasted almost totally fresh, which is of course due to all the rain we've been having lately. The second thing i noticed was the faint chemical taste in it.

Anyway my throat started to get sore pretty damn quickly after that, and i woke up this morning and it feels really burnt, sucking on cough lollies right now to try and stop it hurting.

How dirty is this water, and has anyone experienced similar? must be some pretty heavy pesticides etc in there - am i going to die?

I went down there just after your posting and did some testing... looks like you have no chance and should be dead by this evening. Having read up about the pesticides it appears the only thing that will save you is to give me all your kite gear as soon as possible, your car, your wife and your dog.... Only joking, why would I want a wife.

Slightly off topic, but since users of this thread would know, i'll post my question here:

- What are the winds like now around that area (Maroochy)? Do you go cross river or along the bank? Is it deep or shallow water? Any other available spots nearby?

thanks

p.s. just considering whether to bring my gear next week when i come for a holiday there...

I'd go with seeing a Doctor on this one.

Bring your gear, it's been pumping for weeks - kite across the river on an outgoing tide right in the rivermouth starting at cotton tree campsite - beach side
