I'm heading up to the Twin Waters resort for two weeks of family holiday, and was wondering what kiting spots and winds to expect for the first two weeks of July? I have 12 and 14 metre Rebel kites. Thanks for your help, or should I just bring my mini-mal surfboard?

PERFECT.
jump on google and check out the Maroochy River Mouth. it is my favourite RM ive kited at. not exactly sure of the wind directions. if you like flat water its good in close, or if you like waves (or if its light), you can just kite in the breaking waves at the mouth.

plenty of other locations on the coast too.

have a good holiday.

Defiantly bring the surfboard, there are good waves walking distance from the resort. Wind is usually hit or miss that time of year but you may get lucky.
Happy holidays

The locals are a bunch of wierdos who think they are too cool for school.
Don't bother saying hello if your not riding what they ride.

I would also agree with the twin tip guy, its seems like some of those guys down there are a bit too cool for school.Generally its the fatter one of arab descent or the none smiling one who has under lying motive to be nice to you for his own profit
Oh well have a nice day.

Hi coastflyer & wecome, you will get some wind over two weeks it mostly blows SE gusty but good swell, Beach runs are the go at that time of the year, Go to my web site www.sunshinecoastkitesurfing.com & click "contact us" you will see a google map of the area. The river is cool, no rocks & we have a good social out look at the baech if you wear a smile, safety leash, & stay away from the flags, it's all good!
Drop in & say HI!
Thankyou NOOSA KITER for your coments, I will pass it on to the boys, see you out there soon.
NOTWINTIPS well **** what do you ride? I think the blend of kites at Cottontree is vast there may be only two or three brands in Australia that you don't see out at this beach. Sorry we look to cool for school, we are just having fun & looking good doing it & as for a bunch of wierdos, maybe you are just a little sensitive & you didn't stand out in the crowd like you thought you might. Maybe you are not as impressive as some of the local kiters, ( Andy Yates, Kevin & Scott Johnson, Maurrie, Jason, Chris W, Beaver, Nathan. Ollie, Ben wilson, Dustin, from KB Mag, I could go on).
Hope you bring some good wind with you COASTFLYER.

surfingboye THANKS
Yes Andy is Crazzy! I don't get it either.
All I can say we sall mystic & have sold out, FO & sold out Just Got the last of the Da Kine wast almost sold out.
Why did you push that button?
I think the big boys (brands) at there dealer meetings, think if they restrict trad & branding they can control pricing & the market, "I hope my ears burn when they have there meeting this year" but there are other good kites out there it's starting to take hold you can get kites cheaper people are trying new or different brands, Look at the Takoon Furia2 the best wave kite Iv'e ridden No reving about them just surf & kite. The HI FI LTD Comp if you ride a C kite well you got to give it a go. You could follow the Cult clan or 12m $1300 blade vertigo the same feel kite & may fly better, build quality? Core GT a big hit good kite flies well, well built & so on & so on.
Thanks for that.
I will stop now be for I have a fit.
If you are looking for a Rev2 I have a new 9m never used trad on a Furia2, I am selling it for $1800, RRP $2170, $1800 is the price fo the Furia2 9m that was traded, ring the shop if you want it, I know you like Revs.
Good night sleep well it's on Thurs, Frid, Sat.

Here is the wind conditions for July last year

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/200807/html/IDCJDW4081.200807.shtml

unfortunately its in km/hr however it's not too hard to convert.

As you can see we get a lot of westerlies in winter which suck big...however as you can see there were a few marginal days and 2 good days in the month. There are some days where you can kite a westerly in the rivermouth as long as the wind is not too contaminated.

Went to Marroochy back in Sept. and found it to be a top spot. Before setting up, I approached the locals and they filled me in on stuff like staying clear of the flags, having a leash, etc. One of them helped me launch and I had a great session. Hope to be back real soon.

Sunseeker, thanks for that BOM link, I should have thought of that! Westerlies would seem great for a surf up your way so as the kite gear is so easy to travel with, I will have all the gear ready to go, come what may regarding the weather. By the way, do you still have that cable ski park up there on the Sunshine coast?

I think "notwinstips" is a crackhead

I have to say cotton tree even though im a noosa resident is my favourite place to kite and i use a range of boards and kites along with the other vast amount of kiters that kite there.....the people are friendly the location is mad from flat water to good waves all in all great place to kite....

being in twin waters your only down the road from noosa aswell....you will meet plenty of people at cotton tree and maybe if your keen on a northerly wind you could make the trip down to noosa with a few of your new kiting buddies your bound to meet :)

happy holidays
