I kited there on a wet windy day and had the beach to myself. The next day 'when it was sunny' there was a couple of thousand people along the stretch of beach. Although it was windy enough, I didn't set up and paddled out in the onshore instead. btw - The 'tuff guy rep' over there's all hype.... (W.A's waaaaay worse).
Perhaps a local could let you know if kitings still allowed there... or.... Private Message you somewhere better to go on a sunny day when Maroubra's bound to be busy with swimmers etc.
They've had their fair share of kiters in the past making total dildo's of themselves. Try and rip it up to help out kitesurfings beach cred.
