Due to the behaviour of recent "visitors" the Beach Inspectors at Maroubra have had a gut full of kitesurfers. If we don't change the way things are going down here, we will be banned from the beach completely. They have asked us to spread the word, to reduce the likelihood of future issues.
There are a few rules they have asked us to follow.
You mast have an AKSA tag on your harness. They will check for it, and kick you off the beach if you don't have current insurance.
Report to the beach inspectors before rigging up! Last summer they put signs on the beach which say this, but people are still not bothering. It is not a "given" that you can ride here, so check with them first, or they will send you home...
Only three kiters can ride here at a time. I know it sounds rough, but the beach is not very big, and it is one of Sydney's most popular surf beaches. They have decided that 3 is the limit.
No beginners. There are plenty of places (near by) where you can learn to kitesurf. Don't ride at Maroubra unless you have a good skill level and you are comfortable in the waves.
No riding north of the main flags.
Don't be surprised if they won't let you ride here on a twin-tip. They have commented that every time they have any dramas with kiters, they are on a twinie, while the regulars on surfboards never cause issues. I don't know if they have made this a hard and fast rule or not, but they were discussing it....
While Maroubra is not the best spot to ride, nobody wants to see it banned to kiters (like Bondi), so please chat with the beach inspectors and follow their rules when you are there.

Wow, what a gnarly place to ride - for so many reasons...
Not sure most of us would ever want to ride there anyway - definately one to leave for the LOCALS.
