Got a buddy visiting whose always been keen to jump onto any new sport or fad. He came and checked out this crazy kiting thing at Woodies last Sunday and then on Tues goes and buys himself a brand new SS Turbo Diesel (SlingShot Bow-style Kite).
And that means I'll get to try it out!!
Just wish there was some freakin wind to do it on.
Anyone heard any good/bad things about these to watch out for???
The Turbo Diesel is fine for learners - provided they have been shown how to operate the safety system, and the bar stopper. If the bar stopper is not moved from the top of the trim ropes, then the kite has the same deadman (let go of the bar) 95% depower as all the other bow style kites. If the bar stopper is moved down towards the rider, then pulling the release on the chicken loop will flag the kite to the front lines, same is if the rider let go of the bar.
It is very important that people intending to learn using bow style kites are taught on them or are at least thoroughly familiarised with the safety system by the person or store selling the kite. Same goes for anyone selling a kite privately - they should ensure the person is aware of how to use the kite.
