Hi,
I just turn back from what was a fantastic session on the water, after so long time.
20 knots northerly got me going on the 12 and it was absolutely fantastic.
Yesterday was good also, just a little bit too gusty.
The water is freezing (11.5 deg), however I tested my "Radiator rashie”, and I was comfortable, it looks that it works pretty well.
Any way, it is good to be back on the water

Middle brighton be where dem dingle danglers hang. If you are really on point you would have hit rye on saturday, flat water as far as the eye can see and wind steady enough to unhook in.. He who dares my son, he who dares...

Good on you Kitegrom(py), I don't care to be with the dingle danglers, I may be one of them, or I may be one that only like to cruise so what on Earth is your problem?
If it's in my reach and I have fun (not everyboddy has the whole day to go to Rye), I don't care where I am kitesurfing.
When you will be my age (if you will reach it), you will may learn, flat water and unhooked may not be the ultimate goals in life.
So, if you are not interested and you cannot make a positive contribution, keep off.

He who dares ...? I think you mean he who drives. We got good wind at Brighton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and didn't have to drive anywhere. Wind + water + kites + boards = fun.

Yeah, i had a tri session as well (fri, sat, sun)! Great fun. Geelong though!

Just out of curiosity Silviu, are you able to kite at Middle brighton in a northerly or is it offshore? Today it had a bit of westerly in it so it would have been ok, but what about straight northerly? I could imagine it would be really gusty, as the wind would just about have to come through the city?

11.5 deg freezing? Freezing would be below 0. You're starting to sound like you come from somewhere North silviu! I'm just glad to have the water by myself.

Hi ellery,

Southerly and Northerly on MDB they are directly cross-shore. We definitelly prefer southerlies in summer (sea-breaze), as northerlies are very gusty. However, today between 10 and 12 it was un-expectedly 20 knots, smooth and the swell was about 1 m, just enough to be fun.
However, in winter everithing is "welcome" as long as we can be o the water.
11.5 deg, yes, it starts to be freezing for me, and yes I am comming from the very far North (I mean from Europe) where generally in winter temperatures are sub-zero, however, I am starting to become more "mature" with every year, and I really start to "appreciate" some "comfort". (hey, still cycling 45 km three times a week and going to the "12 hours mountain bikle enduro" in September).
So I am glad you had fun finally this weekend, yes it was great, I've been in the afternoon on the beach and I got some great action pictures of the mates on the water.

Due North is directly cross shore at Brighton but because of the wedged shape of the beach the wind is coming off the land near the Brighton Baths and is slightly offshore towards Green Point. If you dropped some gear offshore in a Northerly the next stop would be Dromana.

If you are downed on the inside then the reef at Dendy Street will catch you. Booties are highly advisable when riding in a Northerly at Brighton.

The slightest hint of West makes Brighton quite nice.

It is gusty but gusts are fun. :)

Brighton is the only Northerly beach on this side of Melbourne. You can go down to Carrum, Bonbeach etc but Brighton is fine for competent kiters.

The only problem is you get newbies on the beach and the gusts can be quite extreme. It's much better out on the water.

Hey Azza....you missed out on a couple of good days down Rosebud. Saturday was fairly light on - say 15 to 20 kn, but Sunday was sun out, filled in lagoons and wind 20-25kn+....water was cold, but still managed a good 2 hours +....cheers Tom

The Nova 12m had every mm of depower used, every knot every bit of depower strap. And then had to release the stopper to get more bar travell.

To borrow a phrase - we are usually in "vigorous agreement"

I can only hope for every one elses sakes that the other brands curved tip kites are as good as the Vegas, because they just take kiting to a new level of enjoyment....

Weekend looks absolutely beautiful in .... Darwin.
Saturday, Sunday in Darwin , than 5 days in Kakadu Park , back next Sunday , if the crocks and snakes will let me alive .
Unfortunately no kites can come with me , any way, do no believe kiting is possible in Darwin.

Will post some picture, when I will be back[}:)]

The surf forecast looks good for the weekend. 6'-8' and light northerlies.

Yesterday was nice for kiting if you had decent gear and could handle gusty offshore conditions.
