Hello Perth Kiters..... I am wondering if there is enough interest from local perth kiters to get a board-accross style series going in the river this coming summer... If you think you might be interested in competing or helping please respond to this post. For those that don't know what a board accross is; it is essentially a "minni" race course that involves upwind / reaches and downwind legs, designed to have 4 to 5 people racing against each other around the bouys, first man over the line wins. There may / can be obstacles that can be negotiated for a quicker time.
Melville board riders and the peli point crew have got together in the past for some upwind/downwind stuff before. Got quite a few kiters, great fun especially the barbi and beers afterwards.
Should be held upwind slightly of the main melville crew as it gets packed in the summer on weekends. Sounds like fun.
Hey chop chop We did this last year a couple of times. Was darn good fun I'd be game again. Youngie organised the last ones, both of which Melville romped home by miles.....if i remember correctly.
Good to see that there is interest around. I'm think that talking about it at the next WAKSA events committee meeting would be suitable ~ aslo maybe more of a series than one of.... like consistency points over 4-5 races? season champ etc...........
