Does either of the above get more wind than Narrabeen? I have been going to Narrabeen the last couple of days as I have been working out at Hornsby, but only to get there and find no wind :( I get home and Botany has been cranking 23 knots.

Am I better off heading to any of the other beaches in the Northern Beaches? I will be up that way again on Sat..........

Have the same issue with Narra in a NE. Sometimes it seems to get most of the prevailing wind, other times just completely misses it... I've seen people say it is normally 5 knots less than the Airport wind metre or half way between North Head and Airport but it unfortunately is just not that predictable... Varies anywhere from 5 - 15 knots less in my experience.

Palmy gets heaps more wind and is a safer bet if you can get up there. Still don't think it gets as much as Botany/Cronulla...

Best advise i have re Narra is to check out the surfcam first - http://www.swellnet.com.au/surfcam.php?region_id=13&state_id=2&cam_id=13

No kites up or they look they are working there kites hard - go to Palmy or Botany/Cronulla...

Do a search here in the forums for other posts that relate to your question.

It's a phenomenon that nobody seems to be able to explain satisfactorily: why does Narra have so much less wind that the rest of the Northern Beaches? (I can't comment on Mona Vale)

Yesterday at about 16h30 I drove past Narra, saw it was the usual 10 knots and kept driving to Palmie, where I had a great 2 h session in 16-20 knots. Some guys were on 10s.

Many people have given up on Narra because it is so marginal (although today and tomorrow may be good - however, it will be much better further North or south - the same rule applies.)

Hopefully you weren't the tool riding up on the sand, doing spinny trick things right at the water's edge while your mum took photos, then dropped your kite on the beach and watched it blow 500ms down the beach as you had no leash on?

No wind at Palmy-it's the same as Narrabeen-go South-heaps more wind over that side.

That tool on the North?

I saw him too - didn't get close enough to the photographer to comment on her age.

I was the tool on the Rev.

Yeah-that was him-same thing yesterday (Friday)-for some unknown fuggin reason (which even he couldn't explain when asked) he again lost his kite on the beach-kite on the loose-and it went along the beach over the dunes into the car park and the bar got caught on a car-god if there had been a little kid there!

Same thing-his mother on the beach with her camera-the guy really needs to get his act together or find a new spot/sport.

He has been spoken to by a few people-we'll see what today brings.

Update? How was today? Did the mother have a video camera? Did sonny boy behave?

(this is better than a soap opera - and I get a daily fix)

A couple of us drove down to 7 Mile Beach, good downwinder to Shoalhaven Heads. Everyone behaved. No dramas.

It looked like Palmie was good today judging by the Noraheads windmeter.
