Had another couple of sessions on the weekend with the line-mounted GoPro. The line rotations cause some rather bizarre image distortions at times, adding to the interesting angles it captures. Great little camera!

Full galleries with all of the photos are linked from my web page at kitesurfing.com.au/

not bad rob, you will have to take me to a spot like this when I come to visit.

PS I wouldn't mind trying out the camera on my lines to see if I can get some nice shots like these.

If you want to see a great mount for the camera, look at what I guy(jim stringfellow) from the Gorge set up. He sells them as well. At www.kitehero.com.
Here is a vid of the production of one of the mounts.

Awesome pics Robbo!

Anybody made a mount for Pentax Optio W60 yet? The W60 is getting pretty cheap these days, waterproof, programmable interval shots, time laps movies, and 10MPix. Bit better image quality to almost the same price of the GoPro I reckon.

Hi Robbo, would love to see how you've rigged this up. Maybe I could give you a go of my HD gopro when it arrives in return for some advice on setting up a line mount? Should arrive tuesday.

Hey, thanks mate. That'd be brilliant.

Here's the rig:

Not as schmick as the one made with CAD and the CNC machine, but it does the trick -- total cost of parts was about $5

I like the mount position, but wouldn't it mess up rotations?

Jeez, how many cameras do you have or do you keep moving the same one around?

I have kitecam envy.

Nup, whole assembly just rotates along with the centre lines. No problems.

Gav (flyingkiwi on SB) was working on one a couple of months ago -- not sure the status of it though... W60 takes a shot every 10 sec the GoPro every 2 sec and the GoPro is considerably lighter too so you don't get so much torsional momentum when it twists around. Weight at that location is not a good thing. I think the GoPro will be a much better result all around.
