As beautiful as Morton Island is, it is the one island up that way that has me VERY wary of sharks, and that is something I never really worry about anywhere.
Banks can be amazing there sometimes, but I can't offer anything about kiting as when I lived up that way I only surfed.

Had a few trips now, yellow patch at the northern end has provided the most success. The whole eastern beach is possible but wild, sharky, and very isolated have never seen anyone else in the water. It's a magic place you will have to your self but help is a long way away.

Yellow Patch on a NE is the go but just stay in the shallows as the channel off the beach does have a bit of current in it.
Kited the western side a few times in SW & W which was fun but always felt uneasy as I have caught a lot of big toothy critters just off the beach.
Kiting the eastern beach is asking for trouble just too many sharks to be honest, may as well kite Straddie.
The safest place is on the Southern end on the banks in the bay for flat water.

The lagoon at the southern end of the island on the eastern side is amazing in a SE.

You need to be confident body dragging as it is mostly deep water (with a small shallow shelf).

I didnt see any sharks in that area. But we definately saw a dead one on the beach on the drive down.

Not that I have any basis for my thinking but that is the part of the island that scares me most. The edges of the bank just look like shark highway to me.

hey barba,
I've been going there since I was 5, it's a fantastic place, especially if you have kids.

Try the east side, in the surf, take your twin tip and keep to the shallows,
sharks are guaranteed around Moreton. Especially in that 20 meters of water on the west cost between the shoreline and the wrecks. Where everyone thinks it's ok to swim.
