Hi,

We are two couples visiting Australia for 7 weeks, and we will be moving up the coast from Sydney to Brisbane the next two weeks. What are the spots to visit ( especially flat water)? Also appreciate some tips on where to camp.

Thanks,

Knut

Don't stop in Brisbane - Sunshine Coast 100km's north of Brisbane has excellent kiteboarding and kitesurfing spots. About 80km's of accessible beaches for down winders/surf and 3 awesome rivermouths for flat water. Always speak to a local at a rivermouth for local regulations and always rig up downwind of flags away from people and stay 200m off shore of flags when in the water. Feel free to contact me via this site if you come to the Sunshine Coast

i will come to the sunshine coast tomorrow. wind looks pretty good for the weekend. will be in caloundra tomorrow. any special recommendations where to go on saturday to get most out of the awesome wind forecast? I've been to Caloundra and Noosa before and both spots were awesome.

Not sure were you are from, but most of this area is best for waves.
Can you stay upwind?
Hawks nest flat water is off shore in a typical NE summer wind at the spit.

There is a caravan park at blacksmith beach, lake macquarie
You have a surf beach 200mt from the park.
Accross the channel from the park, at caves beach is another good surf spot
There is also a flat water spot in the channel that works in a NE only that is also accessed from the caves beach side of the channel.
This flat water spot also has a few razor fish that stick up about 200 mm from the sea bed (very sharp shells) that will cut your feet open if you spend a lot of time walking in the water.

Also if at a beach anywhere in Australia stay well away from the flagged areas were all the swimmers are.
As mentioned earlier alway ask a local for what the go is in the area. Most will be more than happy to have a quick chat and point you in the right direction.
